My Teacher is a Monster • Diego Hernandez

End of School

I was just an ordinary kid named Henry. When school was done, I had vacations where I did not need to worry about anything. I went to the park one day and met my friend, Fred, who had just finished 2nd grade. I asked him, “How was 2nd grade?” Fred did not say what other kids would say.

The Talk

He said, “It was HORRIBLE! The teacher is a monster. Her name was Ms. Vorsis, and if you don’t do your homework, you stay day after day to finish. She has tentacles longer than an octopus. Had teeth sharper than anything. She is bigger than a horse! She has to bend over to enter the door!”

All I wondered was what it was going to be like tomorrow with the monster. I told the teacher that my work was done, and the bell rang. I went to the car and my mom asked, “How was school today?”

I said, “Better than any day!”

When I went to bed that night, I crossed my fingers hoping that the monster would not be in the classroom tomorrow. But then I had to sleep.

I Could Not Believe This

I went to my classroom and I saw my real teacher, Ms. Vorsis! She did not have tentacles longer than an octopus. She was not bigger than a horse. She did not have sharp teeth. We did not have homework. She was the best teacher I ever had. But… I wonder where my friend, Fred, got all of this nonsen
